About this Squadron

Established on 30 August 1981 as 84 Advanced Flying School at AFS Potchefstroom, the unit changed name to 84 LAFS in May 1982.

The school provided advanced training to pilots who had recently graduated as pilots and were destined for deployment to the light aircraft or transport lines, using Cessan 185s.

The school was closed on 31 December 1991 and the Cessna 185s were transferred to 42 Squadron.
