Hi all! I am a postgraduate research student on the subject of South African cinema and am looking for a few FILMS on DVD, VHS or digital which I am unable to find. I know some are available in the National Film Archive and will arrange to travel there in due course, however if I could find these for my own collection I would really be grateful. The original DVD's released in SA during 2000s by M-Net and others have all sold out online.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me with the following films:
MIRAGE ESKADER - 1975 - Bertrand Retief
FORTY DAYS aka 40 DAYS - 1976 - Franz Marx
AWOL - 1989 - Neil Sonnekus
DIE SABOTEURS - 1974 - Percival Rubens
'N WÊRELD SONDER GRENSE - 1987 - Frans Nel
KAPTEIN CAPRIVI - 1972 - Albie Venter
DANS VAN DIE FLAMINK - 1974 - Ivan Hall
DIE VLUGTELING - 1960 - Gordon Vorster
MET MOED DURF EN BLOED - 1973 - David Millin
Z.E.B.R.A. - 1971 - Elmo de Witt
JANTJIE - 1984 - Dirk de Villiers

Thank you!

As a "postgraduate research student", why do you ask for a copy of films like die Saboteurs ? As it have never been released on VHS or DVD, or broadcast on television. it was only shown in theatres in 1975. There is a negative print available in the archive in Pretoria, any if you want to telecini it, going to cost you around R10 000+++! ,(Before you can start with that , you will need permission from the owner of the film).

Some other ones on you lists , you are going to strugle with :D :D .

I have all, but some of them, like "die Saboteurs" only on 35mm... made in 1974. So I cannot really help you.

PM and I can hep you with a contact at Mnet to help with a copy of the films they own, but remember they will have to go and make a copy from the Betcam tape, and that cost around R500+.

I remember watching this at Laerskool Halfway House in '87 as a tjokkertjie.

I had a quick look at the film.
The female ATC was at school with me, I cannot recall her name at present!
