A couple of pictures from my recently completed 1/72 Airfix Vampire T.11 build (finished to represent the aircraft being maintained by the SAAF museum).

A very nice build! =D> =D>

During re-spray of the aircraft at Hoedspruit some years ago, the painters made a mistake with the positioning of the under-wing serials and swopped them with the starboard serial on the port wing and vice-versa.

The SAAF under-wing serials as the same as the RAF and other Commonwealth air forces have the starboard under-wing serial been able to read when approaching and the port serial been able to read when the aircraft is departing.

Thanks AT6C, very handy information for future builds (added it to my set reference library). I used these pictures as reference, including for the underwing serial numbers (http://www.craiglotter.co.za/2015/04/21 ... 5-vampire/). Something to always keep in mind when working of pictures of restored subjects.

I forgot to mention the ADF is situated on the rear portion of the canopy between the 2 side windows.

It's white in colour.

This is a SAAF mod as all the SAAF aircraft were required to fit an ADF.

The experts said that there was no place to fit the ADF but the museum ground crew fitted the ADF in it's current position.

I must compliment on the neat and sharp canopy framing.

Thanks folks. I only noticed the ADF now that you pointed it out AT6C. Something to note for a future build.

Pieter, that's a nice looking 1/72 Vampire.

Recently I have made a 1/32 Vampire T.35 with a big conversion, though in an Aussi Telstars scheme.

Info at my website and page: https://aircraftinplastic.com/models/vampire-32/vampire-32-trainer-1.html
