Marc please can you provide us with some insight as to how it all went. I'm hoping Herman will post details of class winners with piccies. We're there more entries than last year ? Was there more interest from the public ? Seems like Jix didn't make a turn ? Many more questions...

Herman would be the best person to give the official feedback.

My impression was that overall it was a success, the MOY format is working well. Having said that the GRSM committee work incredibly hard to make sure it does.

The day was massive success

We had just under 200 entries, of which 185 was on the table on the day. Although we have hear from a number of modelers that want to come through for the open category, we only had 6 on the table. Most of the modelers that they are coming never arrived on the day.

We had a number of sponsors and vendors on the day. Thanks to all of them for their support and some driving long distances to be there
Model Tech - Sponsor and vendor for the day
Esswex - Sponsor and Demos/ workshops on the day
    Pegasus Hobbies - Sponsors
Aviationshop - Sponsor and vendor on the day
Supernova Studios - Sponsor and vendor on the day coming all the way from Durban

The Diorama SIG had their d-day diorama there which was pretty impressive. They are planning a Battle of Britain diorama for the next year

We did have one unfortunate incident where somebody accidentally put their full weight on a table and the table collapsed with about 15 models on, most of them from one modeler.

Besides that the day was huge success, ending with most members and some vendors staying for a braai the evening.

Marc, thanks for taking some photos and posting them here.

I will be publishing the full list of winners later this week, just after we have send of the MOY newsletter to the members.

I can say that yours truly has won the following
Best 1/72 Prop Aircraft
Best South African Subject
Chairman's award

Looking forward, the venue has already been booked for next year's MOY on 21 November

Regards

Herman

Thanks Malcolm

The Chairman's award is given by the chairman to any person of the club, that has the club's interest at heart, participate in every meetings etc.

The 15 models did okish. This first round judge 1 scores was just done when that happened. The second judge was told to try and ignore any broken parts from the crash and judge them as if nothing happened.

One of them made the Top 5 for second judging round

So working through the photo's, there has been a distinct shift to the dark side.

Armour, dioramas, figures & vehicles have overtaken aircraft. Which is not surprising given that the availability of new hobby materials that favour's armour in particular.
