101 Squadron
"Adjuvamus"
An Air Force Reserve Squadron, the main area of responsibility is Mpumalanga Province, mainly involved in crime prevention. The unit is staffed by volunteer aircrew flying civilian aircraft.
Established as 101 Air Commando on 24 September 1963. With effect from 1st October 1968 control of all Air Commandos passed from the SA Army to the S.A.A.F. and the unit was redesignated 101 Commando Squadron, S.A.A.F. The squadron came under total control of Tactical Group.
Transferred to Light Aircraft Command, S.A.A.F. in 1970. Based at Bethal under control of AFB Waterkloof till 1975. In 1975 the squadron came under control of AFB Hoedspruit. Moved to AFB Hoedspruit
Utilized in 1986 during unrest in the Ermelo, Roodewal and Trichardt area.
Redesignated 101 Squadron in 1995.
