Description:

General-purpose military aircraft.

A total of 31 Wapitis served in the SAAF, of which 27 were the Mk III which were licence-built in South Africa, the first aircraft to be manufactured localy. Serials were from 601 to 631.

Armament:
One 0.303 in (7.7 mm) Vickers synchronised machine-gun and one 0.303 in (7.7 mm) Lewis gun on Scarff ring over rear cockpit, plus up to 580 lb (263 kg) of bombs.
