The Hind was an updated Hart, with a cut-down rear cockpit which afforded a better field of fire for the observer and a tailwheel in place of the skid. The prone bomb aiming postition was also improved.
Both the Bomber and Trainer versions were used by the SAAF.

One fixed forward-firing 0.303 in (7.7mm) Vivkers Mk II or III machine-gun in port side of nose and one 0.303 in (7.7mm) Lewis gun on rear cockpit mounting, plus a bombload of up to 520 lb (236 kg).
