About this Squadron

The SA Air Force College is situated in Thaba Tshwane, Pretoria, and is responsible for the military development of NCO and officers up to the rank of colonel and the training of intelligence staff.

Courses run include the following: 

Junior Command & Staff Course
The Junior Command and Staff Course prepare junior officers to perform effectively as junior commanders and/or staff officers in the South African Air Force.

Officers Forming Course
The Officers Forming Course equip the learners with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitude and values to enable them to be utilised as effective and efficient officers in the SA Air Force.

Senior Non-commissioned Officers Development Course
The Senior Supervisors Course prepare senior Non-commissioned Officers to perform effectively as Senior Supervisors in the South African Air Force.

Non-commissioned Officers Forming Course
The Non-commissioned Officers Forming Course equip the learners with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitude and values to enable them to be utilised as effective and efficient junior Non-commissioned officers in the SA Air Force.

The unit is also responsible for the Air Power Development Centre, which was established to develop an air power developmental training capability in order to make Air Force members knowledgeable in terms of air power.

The SA Air Force College was formed as a Wing of the former SA Military College on 7 March 1949. On the 1 July 1950 the Air Wing became the Independent Air Administration and Staff School and on the 7 December 1951 it was renamed as the SA Air Force College.
