Denel Aviation launched a new coffee table publication on the South African Air Force at the Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition (AAD) in Cape Town today.

The book, titled Per Aspera Ad Astra - Through Diversity to the Stars, contains high-quality photographs of all the aircraft in the SAAF stable. Christo Crous, the top SAAF photographer in the airforce, contributed the majority of the photographs. Squadron badges and colour profiles are also included in the book.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of Denel Aviation, Mr Mike Kgobe, said the publication demonstrates the good relationship between the local military manufacturing industry and the SANDF.

Chief of the Air Force, Lt Gen Carlo Gagiano, was most happy when, having finally unravelled the first book from its many layers of wrapping, opened the book right at a full page spread of the Pilatus PC-12, which he flies.

Only a limited number of books were printed, but Denel Aviation plans to make the book available for sale to the general public soon.
