A CASA light transport aircraft has sustained damage after its brakes caught alight this morning.

The aircraft was on the runway at the Swartkop airfield when the brakes caught alight.

The exact aircraft and extent of damage is unknown and we are still awaiting confirmation from the SAAF.

This is the second incident involving a SAAF transport aircraft in as many weeks, after a C-130BZ Hercules suffered a nose-gear collapse whilst landing at AFB Waterkloof on 25 January.
