The SAAF Museum satellite branch at AFB Ysterplaat, Cape Town, celebrated the 90th anniversary of the SAAF with the opening of a SAAF 90 exhibition.
At the opening of the exhibit on Monday 1 February, Brig. Gen. Derrick Page, Director SAAF Heritage, highlighted the salient points in the history of the SAAF. The date of the opening was of special significance as the SAAF was founded with effect from 1 February 1920.
Before invited guests, the exhibit was then officially opened by Col. Billy Cowan, OC AFB Ysterplaat, whereupon all present toasted to 90 years of the SAAF.
The Museum is located at AFB Ysterplaat and is open to the general public from Monday to Friday (08:00 to 15:30) and on Saturdays (08:00 to 12:30). Entrance is free, but donations are welcomed.
