Tenders awarded during February

Armscor issued a large number of tenders relating to the SAAF during February 2009.
These include the following:
3 February 2009 saw a request for quotation issued to Denel (Pty) Ltd, t/a Denel Aviation, for a five year maintenance cycle for the Nightowl main sight system for the Rooivalk combat support helicopter.
Advanced Technologies & Engineering (Pty) Ltd were awarded an extension to theor contract for the repair and overhaul of components for the Hawk aircraft, valued at R2 900 000,00, on 5 February.
Denel (Pty) Ltd, t/a Denel Aerospace Group, were awarded an extension to their contract for the preparation of A-Darter client furnished equipment items. The R2 456 386,62 extension was awarded on 5 February and is in addition to the R36 285 409,00 contracted awarded on 28 March 2008 for the preparation of A-Darter CFE Data items and hardware items for delivery to SAAB.
Following on from the above, on 19 February Denel (Pty) Ltd, t/a Denel Aerospace Group, were awarded a further R121 353 169,33 extension of their contract for the development of the A-Darter air-to-air missile. Also on 19 February, another extension to the contract worth R34 412 952,25 was awarded.
12 February saw a R40 000 000,00 extension for the interim product support for the Hawk aircraft awarded to BAE Systems (Operations) Ltd.
An extension for the maintenance and support services of electronic warfare, RF and internal commuincation system for the SAAF valued at R13 995 535,96 was awarded to SAAB Grintek Defence (Pty) Ltd, t/a SAAB Aerotech SA, on 12 February.
Grintek Ewation (Pty) Ltd were awarded a R5 360 000,00 extension to their contract on 12 February for the maintenance of the Oryx communication jammer, communication intelligence system and Dakota communication intelligence electronic warfare systems.
Also on 12 February, an extension of the contract for the maintenance and support of the communication simulator for the SAAF was awarded to Electro-EW House CC, valued at R2 640 000,00.
A R2 861 700,00 extension for product support services for the Cessna Caravan 208 was awarded on 19 February to Denel (Pty) Ltd, t/a Denel Aviation.
February 19 saw an extension to the contract for the interim logistic support for electronic support measures sub-system onboard the Lynx maritime helicopter, valued at R415 883,46, being awarded to Sysdel CC. The original contact awarded on 2 October 2008 was valued at R12 543 164,70.
The following tenders, although not directly related to the SAAF, are still of aeronautical interest:
A further R1 228 070,00 extension to a R963 290,00 contract for the optimization of lock-on parameters between a designation radar and missile was awarded to Denel Aerospace Group on 12 February.
A R798 275,00 extension to the contract for low cost aerial target system flying services was awrded to BAE Systems - Land Systems SA (Pty) Ltd, t/a Land Systems Dynamics, on 19 February. The original contract, worth R9 986 930,00, was awarded to IST Dynamics (Pty) Ltd on 21 August 2008.
Advanced Technologies & Engineering (Pty) Ltd was awarded a R453 605,33 extension to their contract for the delivery of unmanned aerial observation systems on 5 February.
