Airforce in crisis 1
Date: 17 April 2000
Due to the severe budget problems the SAAF is experiencing as a result of its operations in Mozambique, all scheduled shuttles (Flossies) between the major bases have been cancelled with effect from 19 April until further notice. Apparently, the money received by South Africa in reimbursement for the cost of the flood relief has gone, as is normal practice, into a central account and not back to the SAAF.
In another move, pilots are also having their annual allocation of flying hours cut.
