Mirage F1s return to Ysterplaat Museum
Date: 6 March 2007
Steve McLean reports that Mirage F-1CZs 213 and 204 safely completed the journey from the former 35 Sqn enclosure at Cape Town International Airport to Ysterplaat today.
Formerly on display at ThunderCity, the two aircraft, along with Buccaneer 416, were towed across the airport to "the farm", as 35 Squadron's enclosure was known, in August last year. 213 will be hangared as part of the Museum's display, while 204 is understood to be earmarked for display the the Young Falcons Academy building on the base. The move back to Ysterplaat was superbly handled by 2 ASU and completed in 2hrs 15 minutes. The Buccaneer is due to follow shortly, but will be transported on a lowbed trailer.
