New SAAF Hercules retired

The newest Hercules to join the SAAF fleet, ex-USN C-130F (411), was retired at the beginning of the month as the total number of flight hours has now been achieved. Hercules 411 was the first SAAF Hercules to be painted in the new gray scheme.

Update: 11 September 2000: Seems the above report was premature as the aircraft was observed at AAAD 2000 at AFB Waterkloof and it appeared to be still operational.
