SAAF Impalas for Brazil
Date: 1 March 2005
Official sources recently confirmed that a deal has been brokered by Armscor, the South African Government's official arms and marketing agency, for the sale of an initial eleven former South African Air Force (SAAF) Impalas to the Brazilian Government.
The sale, which gained ministerial approval on October 1, 2004, includes two MB-326KC Impala MkIIs (1003 and 1034) plus nine MB-326M Impala MkIs (484, 505, 522, 528, 551, 552, 566, 599 and 601). It is presumed that these will supplement the fleet of Embraer-built EMB-326GB/AT-26 Xavantes currently in Brazilian Air Force service.
