More news on the disposal of Transall aircraft
Date: 6 September 2004
It was reported on SAAF News that eight ex-SAAF C-160Z Transalls were sold for spares to an overseas based company. The intention was they would never fly again but aircraft spares were the prime reason for purchase. It is not known when the sale took place, but the aircraft are still standing at AFB Waterkloof.
The SAAF purchased nine Transall aircraft which were retired in 1993. One aircraft is with the SAAF Museum at Swartkop.
