Date: 15 May 2024

On Friday, May 10, 2024, eight students from Air Force Base Overberg's Operational Test and Evaluation Course visited the South African Air Force Museum at Air Force Base Ysterplaat.
They completed individual cockpit evaluation assignments, evaluating the controls, displays, ergonomics, and field of view of the aircraft given to them. The aircraft studied included the Impala Mk I, Shackleton, Mirage III, Alouette III, Buccaneer, Wasp, and Albatros.
The Operational Training & Evaluation training lasts six weeks and teaches students how to evaluate unfamiliar platforms/aircraft in familiar missions. Six pilots and two engineers are currently on course.
