The folllowing is a very rough translation of an Afrikaans article that was published in the Beeld newspaper:

Three members of the South African Air Force miraculously survived after the helicopter in which they were flying crashed near Clocolan in the eastern Free State.

Deonne Roux, coordinator of rural protection of Clocolan Farmers' Association, said the helicopter crashed Monday in the district just before 18:00 on the farm Umpukane.

The three Airforce members in the helicopter were taken to the hospital in Clocolan.

Roux said another defence force helicopter picked them up and took them to 3 Military Hospital in Bloemfontein.

Farmers of the district rushed to the scene to help. According to Roux, an ambulance also accompanied the scene where the helicopter crashed.

Brigadier General. Xolani Mabanga, Dfence Force spokesman, said on Thursday evening that the Army was doing night flight training in an Agusta helicopter when the accident happened.

The cause of the accident and condition of the crew is still unknown.
