Mirage F1's sold?
Date: 8 November 2001
A SAAF official stated on November 8: "We appear to have found a buyer for the Mirage F1AZs."
Twenty-one F1AZs had been put up for sale, toegether with all the related support equipment, following their official retirement from SAAF 1 Squadron service on November 25, 1997. Subsequent interest is known to have come from Argentina, Libya and Yemen, but the official was quick to point out that the final buyer was neither of those first two countries.
The SAAF is still looking for buyers of 14 Cheetah E's retired in 1992.
