Three kiled, two injured in Caravan crash

Three people died when a Cessna aircraft in which they had been travelling, crashed in the Misty Mountain area (near Lydenburg) earlier this morning.

“The bodies are still trapped in the wreckage and we will have to cut them out,” Capt Pottie Potgieter, Inland Water Police and Diving Service commander told the newspaper.

Two seriously injured passengers are being rushed to Medi-Clinic in Mbombela.

No media is allowed near the scene until the remaining three bodies that are trapped, have been cut out. According to information a Military helicopter is also on its way to the accident scene.

Additional information: The Cessna Caravan was from 41 Squadron based at AFB Waterkloof and was attending a mountain flying training camp. The three deceased were pilots and the two injured members were ground crew.
