The seat is also cool byt I cut off the dholder straps, they were molded to heavy. I will also make the paracute harnass that fit onto the seat.

Here is the tub in the blue/grey of early Migs before they went for the blue/green scheme.

I added the seatbelts and made a parachute harnass to the seat from leadfoil.

Very odd kit this, the detail is really good but there are no bulckheads to close up the gaping holes on the rear and front of the avionics bay :? :?
I have to make these from plastic sheet.
The locater shelve that the cockpit tub and bay sits on has allot of play aft and forward so very carefull fitting is needed to get it in the correct place.

The IP decal is quite nice

The tail was bare so I opened up the access pannel in the vertical stab after I saw another builder using a resin AM part for this, needless to say I have no budget for this so had to make my own from sprue.

Here is 4 coats of airframe allu alclad on to look like the dark pannels. These will be masked off and more alclad will go on to make it lighter.

Ta Malcom. as you know I only use airframe allu and nt different "shades" of paint. The tone difference I get is allot more subttle and lookd different from different angles like real metal.

Interestingly on the Mig 21 the tone difference is more "severe" than on most western planes.

The weathering I did by puting on a pin wash of black warer paint, then just used the airbrush to ble nd in the pannels and do some modulation so that the allu doesnt lok so neat and uniform as the alloy will corode and disclour a little.

I have put on the USSR scheme, The decals in this kit is another huge letdown. The stars are out of segister and I had to cut them out from the backing paper.

There are allot of little stenclis that went on, they are very fiddly to get on but so small you cant see them being out of register.

Hoping to ge the clearcoat on oday
