Hi Guys

Why don't the Army just sell all the G5 howitzers and just upgrade or buy new G6 howitzers?
The G6 is a better weapon than the G5.
Now they want to waste money and get the T5-52.

Hi Werner, my brother that is in Army HQ said the T5-52 system is cheaper to maintain and run and operate. The G6 components are becoming obsolete. The SAMIL that towed the G5 has the same issues as the G6 fewer spares and costs to run now has also made it unviable to tow the G5 anymore and to support it.

Hi Airfire

Thanks for the info I understand that our G6 is old but Denel further development the G6 to the G6-52 witch is a new weapon system.
In fact it is actively being marketed for export.
Denel also states that all G6 can be upgraded to the new G6-52 standard.
Surely that can be cheaper than buying a hole new weapon system like the T5-52?

It's far simpler than the G6, for example the base vehicle is "any suitable flatbed truck".
