Hello
My name is Audrey from Rhino Research in Johannesburg.
I have for many years done research at the SADF, often on SAAF men.
I have a list of the SAAF men who served in 2 Sqdn during the Korean War but some of the service numbers have an "E" prefix instead of a "P".
The man I am looking for is E Smith and his WW2 number was 5567. His Korea medals have number E13560. He wasn't a pilot. He is recorded as L.A.M.
Could anyone please tell me what the "E" prefix is??
Most of the Korea medals have the "P" prefix.
Any help appreciated.
Audrey

Hello Audrhino,
I bielieve the "E" is for enlisted (ie members who voluteered or enlisted to join the campain) whereas the "P" is for "Permanent Force" members (ie personel who joined the forces for permenent, full-time employment).
