Dear SAAF Enthusiast

We are pleased to announce the introduction today of the brand-new, extreme make-over Unofficial South African Air Force Website!

For over ten years, we have been bringing you the news as it happens, with continuous updates and the latest information.

You are now able to view almost twelve months of hard work by web-design studio Active Ice. You will also find a new design of our homepage and every page has been transformed via a new look and feel.

The enhancements include:
  • Over 1 000 photographs in a new Gallery, with the facility to submit your own photos and videos;
  • 80 new colour aircraft profiles by Brent Best, specially commissioned for this website, with more to come;
  • Enhanced listings of all SAAF aircraft since 1920;
  • Greatly enhanced listings of weapons and support items that have been used by or developed for the SAAF (you'll be surprised as to what you'll find!);
  • Searchable and sortable News section;
  • RSS feeds for the latest News, Events, etc;
  • Enhanced background information on many aircraft that have served in the SAAF since 1920, including downloadable fact sheets and brochures; and
  • Too many more to mention here!

Further upgrades, such as additional squadron/unit logos, a complete Museum static aircraft display listing and

research details for the SANDF Archive will be added in the coming weeks.

Gripen Competition!

With the kind co-operation of the Saab/Gripen team, you can win some exciting Gripen prizes in our launch quiz.

The first prize includes a VIP single-seat Gripen desk-top model and Keyring with crystal glass cube (worth R600), plus other Gripen sponsored prizes.

To enter, simply see if you can guess the aircraft shown on each picture. Please note that entries submitted via the development site must be resubmitted.

We hope you enjoy the new website and features! Let me know what you think of the new design.

Best regards

Dean Wingrin
