Can members please provide feedback / previous experience with Fujimi Mirages in 1/48 scale
Am considering a purchase and there are three versions available -IIIC,IIIR & IIIE
Obvious intention to build a SAAFversion
Appreciate your assistance
It is 1/50 scale for starters.
As I understand it, Academy Mirage III were derived form Fujimi.
I had the Academy kit IIIR, I used it's nose for my present IIIR build.
The detail in the cockpit is, well I say non existent. Canopy/windscreen was one piece. The recessed detail was good. This kit is good for junior, unless you have something up your sleeve. For a IIIC in 48, Eduard first, especially the "Profipack" which has paint masks and painted photo etch. Second, HobbyBoss.
The Heller kit is way ahead of the Academy kit in detail despite having raise panel lines, but behind the first 2.
For the IIIE, Italeri with raised panel lines, Neomega has a nice cockpit for it. Oh yes, an Oz outfit, High Planes has a cockpit, wheel bay, exhaust for it.
Supposedly there will be a new IIIE and Mirage 5 kit coming out from a US manufacturer.
