Firstly, I hope to read and see opinions of fellow Forum members, especially from those members still resident in SA. Your participation in discussions affecting your Air Force, is necessary. If you have given up on your Air Force, that's fine, but then please say so. I for one will fully understand it.

As to the message of the Chief:-
- you speak of a questionnaire to be given out, why is it not ready? It should coincide with your plea for help.
- what experience of aviation, military or civilian, do you bring to your appointment?
- do you hold a pilot's licence of any kind?

I will be following this thread with interest. However, I'm not holding my breath.

It's already available, but it's for serving members of the SAAF.

What is the proficiency badge above the Command & Control badge? I've had a look on this website but it doesn't appear to be listed?

The air Force will fail as an organisation, if it persist with an agenda aimed at providing a "job" for certain sector of people of SA, instead of performing it's prime mission/goal of providing defence of south African airspace and support of the other arms of the defence force in the defence of all of South Africa's people and the integrity of the South African borders and territory.

For now, looking at what has transpired over the last 27 years, I will not hold my breath, as I am convinced the systemic racially biased organisation will continue on this path and fail in its primary mission, if that mission is the one I've alluded to above. However, if that mission is to provide jobs for people based on race, then it will most likely succeed, but it will fail to be a force of any significance!!!

The way it's going the SAAF will have to retire some types in the very near future. There's no budget for them. May as well turf the C-47TP, Kingair 200's, PC-12 and close Waterkloof and Ysterplaat. If the budget cuts keep continuing, we'll end up like New Zealand where the fighter capability will vanish.

But never fear, 21 SQN with the VIP jets will keep flying.

I won't even go into the "mission" of the SAAF...

Yup, when I moved to NZ in January 2010 all that was left in the RNZAF was "targets". Didn't really matter, coming from South Africa I couldn't get security clearance for the first 5 years (or maybe 10 years, I forget), even though I held RSA and UK passports at the time.
