To clarify all questions:
SAS Kapa - Snow Petrel was recently sold to work in marine security industry. Still in East London.
SAS Thekweni - Grey Fox is currently in Cape Town harbour waiting to be sold as the expedition yacht.
Paderborn and Schleswig are being broken down for metal scrap. Anyone willing to buy the wooden hulls are welcomed to make an offer.
Ulm will either be sold as a security vessel (after being re-powered and refit) or converted to a restaurant to work either in Hout Bay or in V&A.
Awesome Mariner .. I will update the hull listing.

Welcome to the forum :-) :smt023

Make an offer to who?

To me on this forum. Each vessel weighs about 430 tons. Half of that - aluminium, bronze, brass, and led. The rest - mahogany, oak, and teak. Sell at R1300-15000 per ton of timber.

I dug this photo out today that was circulating at the time. I know some of the arrivals on barge have been posted already, but I don't think this one has.

I saw two of these vessels laid up in Simon's Town. One had a blue hull.

One cut up on the hard.

What is the current status of the surviving ships?

That is the $1,000,000 question ... :-k 8-[

The only one I was able to identify was M1222 - SAS Mangaung (ex-FGS Paderborn M1076).

Image
Paderborn on the left .. unknown Blue hull on the right :?:

Allan has been keeping us updated on this break-up .. but i have absolutely no clue of which hull this is :?:

These two unknowns though, must come from the only two hulls still left. i.e. M1221, SAS Tshwane (ex-FGS Schleswig M1073) or (ex-FGS Ulm M1083). just don't know which is which anymore :(

Well the blue one I presume was sold as why else paint it. I assume that is Ulm.

Yes .. I think you are 100% correct. :D

I just checked the hull status from 2012. The only one left with a blue hull is Ulm.

Image
2012 - SAS Mangaung (ex-FGS Paderborn M1076), with SAS Tshwane (ex-FGS Schleswig M1073) behind her.

Image
2012 - (ex-FGS Ulm M1083)

So we can deduce:
M1221 - SAS Tshwane (ex-FGS Schleswig M1073) - entire service in reserve. Being broken down for scrap 2013.
M1222 - SAS Mangaung (ex-FGS Paderborn M1076) - entire service in reserve. Seen April 2013. - Stored.
M1223 - SAS Kapa (ex-FGS Duren M1079) - commissioned 5th September 2001. Sold "Snow Petrel"
M1225 - SAS Thekwini (ex-FGS Wolfsburg M1082) - Sold "Grey Fox"
(ex-FGS Ulm M1083) - purchased for spares. Seen 2013 - Stored. (Blue hull)
(ex-FGS Konstanz M1081) - purchased for spares. Sunk as an Exocet target during Exercise Red Lion, 1st November 2007.
