I've wanted to build her for years and been watching a few other large free flight builds for tips, so now is the time!

I'll be using a plan for a control line version for outlines, but basically redesigning it for free flight rubber. The plan's wingspan is 60", but I'm enlarging this by 2" each side to get clearance with the fuselage for the inner nacelle props and enlarging the stab a smidge. It's going to swing 9" dia three bladed contra rotating props. I've designed my own little contra units.

This'll be quite a slow build, in between commissioned builds and moving house, but I hope to have it done in a few months :)

I'm hoping for a flying weight of 500g, but we'll see...

I do believe I've got a Shackleton plan around here somewhere... Huh... Also for control line. Seems we might have different versions of the same plan, as this one was scaled up to 90", and supposedly "restored" (though I don't know what state it was in before). Is yours also for 1720?

That'll be the same plan then. The original is 60", but the construction is way too heavy for free flight, so a complete redesign is in order to get it light enough for rubber.
