Yes, another first for a South African military aviation forum ... the ability to read The SAAF Forum while on the move!

Forum Runner is a forum add-on that allows users to access The SAAF Forum at blazing fast speeds by using an application installed on your mobile phone (Android or iPhone) or iPad/iPod Touch device.

You can then either use the free read-only version, or you can purchase the full version for a one-time cost of $1.99.

So if you dont have it on your mobile device yet - get downloading from your app store now. :D

Done!

Tip look under "new arrivals" as the search function a bit cumbersome.

WOW Dean .. this is awesome & it is lightning fast !! \:D/ \:D/ :smt023

Here some screenies :D

Image Image Image Image
Forumrunner main menu page, either use new arrivals or search forums to find the SAAF forum :D

Image Image Image Image
Log in (not needed to browse the forum, but does remove the "login & register" buttons, can be added as a favourite, therefore not needing to search for the forum again.

It has a simple look & feel, which accounts for it's speed, ... threads which contain images, have the images thumbnailed & you can then choose to view the image.

Long live Dean !!!

Oops :(

Found this on the forumrunner forum.

There's is a big bug in the new 1.6 version of the iOS app on the iPad where if the app is first run while the iPad is in landscape mode, the app thinks the iPad is in portrait mode and the UI is messed up and buttons don't work. Switching to portrait mode is still messed up since the the app thinks the iPad is in landscape.

The only way the app works correctly is if the iPad is in portrait mode when the app is first run.

Work around:
1. Press home button
2. Double tap home and press and hold on Forum Runner app until it wiggles and then tap X (I.e. kill app)
3. Hold iPad in portrait mode (short end of iPad on top and bottom)
4. Run app again.

This needs to be fixed ASAP as it makes the app unusable unless the user knows the workaround.

Thanks Brent, that works :D .

However, some of the topics, like this one and SAAF website guidelines don't show for some reason.

Great stuff :D

Those you mention are "stickies" ie always pinned to the top of a thread.

Just checked mine (on a Samsung SII) It also does not seem to display normal threads & "stickies" on the same page. There is a button on the top of the screen to select "stickies" or "threads" or "announcements" though.

I normally just enter the forumrunner app & select "current" .. this displays the new posts since your last visit.

It really is a great app for mobile forum browsing :smt023
