While the Cessna awaits long, dry grass for test flying and the DVI to see if santa brings a printer for covering (SE5 paused too, short attention span and all), I've started on the Comet.

I've always loved this aircraft and wanted to build one. I found the plans just the other day on OZ and decided to give it a go.

I made an error in the scaling and when it came back from the local print shop instead of 33" it's now 48" wingspan! The bonus of this error is I can fit two 9.5" props on it. This will be for twin rubber and free flight

Here's today's work on it, fus completed. I've used 1/16th for the formers and keels and 3/32nd for the stringers. At 28" long it weighs 21g. I'll be doing a cracked rib wing for it in place of the ribbed wing on the plan.

Busy covering now, one of my favourite parts of modelling :)

I managed to find some decent tissue at the local Hobbycraft. 89p for 5 sheets and about 17g/m² so using this. I'll still give it a light dusting of red paint.

Here's the one panel pinned and drying. I was able to sand in 1/16th of washout by sanding away the bottom of the trailing edge and busy warping in another 2mm or so. We'll see how it comes out once dry.

Keep those pics coming, Monique. She's coming along nicely. Red, My favorite color. Will you be painting over another colour?

Thanks bud, I'll be giving it a light dusting of red spray paint. The red tissue means I have to use a lot less red paint so helps keep the weight down.

Here the nacelles have been built in and covered:

Almost done now!

Bit more touching up and detailing to do like panel lines and nav lights. The little dome on the nose will be left off for testing. It'll be a nice place to put nose weight.
