Cradles have been made, but approval and co-ordination with the various traffic authorities are delaying things a bit.

It would be cool if they could put the Bucc in a C-130 and fly it to Ysterplaat> :)
And why do they need the traffic authorities approval to take the Buccaneer to ysterplaat?

It's an abnormal load and would need special routing to get it there.

You need a heavy low-bed tractor-trailer to move the Buc. Hence, there will be significant traffic disruption, possibly event he temporary removal of low-slung cables, etc.

Towing the Buc on the road, like they did with the Grippens when they arrived not an option?
I assume it's wings can be folded, so less wingspan compared to the Grippen.
Just a thought.

The undercarriage is a bit suspect for towing, and I doubt some of the roads it will have to travel along would be reinforced enough to handle the load of a Buc, Gripens are very light in comparison.

Click on the below link to see a sequence of photo's taken of a Bucc being moved by road in the UK.
This is a big aircraft ...
Notice the height of the tail in relation to the cabin of the truck and the undercarriage being much wider apart than the width of the lowbed....

Some of the original Buccs which were offloaded in Cape Town harbour were towed to Ysterplaat.
However I guess roads and traffic patterns have changed in the last 40 odd years...
