Thanks for the update Balerit. It looks like it will be a very good, versatile aircraft. Time will tell when it gets into service.

I see the A400M has been pulled out of the flying program at Farnborough due to engine issues.

Those Europrops are still a thorn in the development program.

Yeah, reminds me of SAA's 747s, in the early days those Pratt @ Whitney's didn't last long, they were developed on the wing.

Denel gets more A400m work:

On a recent visit to South Africa, Cedric Gautier, the Head of the A400M programme, said DAe is “one of Airbus’s most reliable suppliers for the manufacturing of the A400M. We are pleased with the quality of workmanship and the engineering know-how available in the company.”

I've only ever seen RR engines on SAA planes?

All our original 747 a/c up till the B747-400 had P&W JT9 engines, the dash 400 and subsequent A340's have RR engines. The A320's had International Aero V2500 engines, a joint venture between RR and P&W.

Balerit, did they not also have GE CF6 engines on some of the 747-300 & 747-400, which was also on the A300 B2 / B4?
Weren't the RR powered 747-400 new and the GE powered 747-400 used when they entered SAA?
I plan to build 1/200 of these aircraft in SAA colours, have done the SP.

Two of the 747-400s (747-4F6 ZS-SBS & ZS-SBK) had GE engines, the other six 747-444s were all ordered with RRs. The two 4F6s were originally ordered by Philippine Airways, but they couldn't afford to take them due to the Asian financial crisis at the time. They were basically brand new when SAA got them.
As far as I know all the other 747-244/344/SP that were ordered new by SAA had P&W engines.

I left SAA in 1993 and don't know about the GE engines which I have doubts about. I did the RR engine course and then simulator ground run training at British Airways in 1991. Okay I've just come across this link and it appears yes they did have GE engines, which in my opinion were the best engines:
