Hello,

Interested in finding out the details of the forced landing, the name and fate of the pilot of this 2 Squadron aircraft coded "DB-G".
Its serial number looks to end with "81", anyone have the full serial number ? Aircraft in early WW2 colours (outer yellow ring to roundel).

Picture can be seen here on the LEMB website.

Many thanks
Alex

I see the picture is labelled "British Hurricane Fighter". Not an auspicious start...

Going on your observation of the last two numbers being 81 ....

I have a 2 squadron Kittyhawk, DB-G, serial AL181, as being listed missing on operations for the 2nd September 1942. The pilot, Lt DD Stuart was seen to bale out however, ... but the aircraft in the photo looks pretty intact ? :-k

Will check what other DB-G serials I can dig up.

Cheers

Hello,
Thanks to you both for your swift replies.
Yes - no way a Hurricane OR even a Spitfire.
Would it have been possible for the aircraft to have glided to this landing after the pilot baled ?
Alex
