And does anyone know if its going to be broadcasted on television, if so, what channel and at what time.

I believe they were hawks, gripens, helicopters and the silver falcons practicing today around/near the Union Buildings.

On SABC 2 from 10:00, but don't hold your breath for seeing much of the flypast.
Last year it was so poor it looked like the camera people never even knew it was going to happen - no camera was positioned to get a clear view of it and when the flypast started they were busy chatting with some or other 'talking head'.
All we saw on tv was a few seconds of the arse end of a few planes dissapearing into the smog, seen through the branches of the tree the camera was parked under.

Camerawork even more pathetic than last year. To think that the Air Force practised for a few days, spend a lot of money and the SABC-TV still did not have a clue!

Exactly as I thought! Totally F@#$%ing incompetent camera work by the SABC - blerrie bobbleheads talking crap instead of showing us the flypasts!
Don't the SABC get the details of the flypasts beforehand?

Unfortunately the display seems the variate from year to year, aircraft from all sort of different directions this year, can only imagine is camera crew was confused. Maybe some SAAF PR officer could liaise with SABC so they know when and where what will happen.

If it's the SAAF's Press people that screwed up by not providing the tv producers with an exact detailed flypast plan well before the time, somebody needs to be fired! :smt067
If the SABC did recieve such information in time but failed to act on it, someone should be fired! :smt067

OK, a few shots from a million miles away, was hoping to get some Gripen and Hawk departures from Waterkloof,
but unlike last year it seems they operated directly from/to their home base far far away :^o

Warning for very poor quality!

6839 C47TP departure from FAWK

#1 - #5 PC-7 Silver Falcons, a sixth example remained on the ground at FAWK

2x Oryx Union Building fly-by (the third returned to Swartkop reportedly after loosing its flag)

5x Hawk on the way for their second pass, this time from a south-ish direction
formation lead by 272 in Flag colours, only grey one identified was 266.

Follow by the disappointing single ship Gripen #14
Image

The fighters made a third pass, this time with the Gripen leading the 5 Hawks, making a bomb burst above the Union Buildings.
Missed it totally on camera, but here one from when two of the Hawks re-joined formation again.

Next time better luck I hope :?
