Here are some more of my late father's WWII photos mostly of ships taken from the air.

Most of the above photos has the following stamp on the reverse. I hope the photos were not clandestinedly procured!

On the reverse of the photo reads "CERES AT ADEN"

No idea what the "UFO" is but it is part of the photo and not a mark.

I was going to suggest a blimp - but none looked like that. Either a UFO or a glitch in the printing.

At first I also thought a blimp towed by the ship, but it is in front and not towed behind.

Any co-ords with the photo, such as near Area 52?

I think it is just a tear in the photo, the light portion is the mirror of the dark.

A better scan would help. It does look startlingly like a flying saucer.

Here is the best scan I can do. I think it must be a mark on the negative.

Blimps did fly independently too. Not necessarily near a ship either. It was the proud boast (which has probably been proved incorrect by some historian by now) that no WW2 convoy escorted by a blimp (or blimps) ever lost a ship. But it is rather un-blimplike.

The 'ufo' is definitely not part of the original photo image. Its edges are too sharp, the black is too black and white too white for such an old photo.

Possibly a tear in the negative that folded over - which would explain the very white and very black.

Has that pic got anything interesting on the back?

Unfortunately nothing recorded on the back.

Interesting pic as I see this was HMS Ceres a WW I light C class cruiser, launched 1917 and saw service in WWII with several ports of call at Durban 1-11 41 and at Simonstown in July and Sep 42 when it was refitted.
