I started off national service at 1 Maintenance Unit in Kimberly in 1991 and ended up at Army Battle School, Lohatla. I worked in the technical stores whilst there and took part in exersise Excalibur.

I am trying to find out more info on the unit/brigade I fell under as for the love of me I can't remember.

I worked in the technical stores at the "werksplaas" of "tiffies workshops". Does anyone know the organisational structure of Lohatla at that time (1991) ? What units/sub units were there when I was there. I also think I was part of 60? or 61 Mechanised Brigade. I remember a certain RSM Venter running around like a mad man looking for troepe to fight fires after the Artillary guys set the veld on fire. A friend of mine was based at "Skylift?" flying and building model aeroplanes as tagets for the AA artillary guys. Lucky bugger!

Any info and pics appreciated. :smt023

The only suggestion I can think of is to join SADF-related groups on f/book,some run with memberships of 5000+......

I agree, Facebook is probably your best option.
If you remember the names of people who were there with you, you could search for them too.

That's an interesting website. I have a question regarding SAAF wings. If one compares General Kriel's wings which are gold, against those of General Earp's and van Loggerenberg's which are silver?

More hours?

Also: http://sadf.info/InCommandMecicalServices.html Did General Niewoudt spend time in the SAAF?

Oh my word. I know Skylift. They were the anti-aircraft guys that used to fly model aeroplanes. My good friend Andrew Imrie was with you guys in '90. He is in the picture. I see him often. He owns Hobby Warehouse in Edgemeade, Cape Town.
