So what would you do with £101 million Pound Sterling or R1,2 Billion SA Rand?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... amily.html

- get the SAAF Museum Cheetah and other favourites back in the air?
- buy out Thunder City and get those planes back in the air?
- part finance the acquisition of new heavy-lift transports or maritime patrol aircraft for SAAF?
- or just have a few beers and a braai with your mates somewhere in the Bosveld?

Just wondering. 8) :)

Well, if it were me, a significant portion of it would go to MOTH. Not sure about the rest but most definitely would not help the SAAF buy new planes!

Holy cow ....

It's going to be tough .. even just hoarding the amount .. ie not touching it & living off the .. (say 10%) interest ... will amount to almost £1 million pounds per month. How in the name of the sacred cow, does one spend this amount of money every month .. :?:

I'll surely die trying though

I'd buy a biz-jet & travel the world attending every airshow I can & visit every museum I can ... :D

I'll buy my own Spitfire and Mustang, bring them over to SA and fly them around for you okes for a bit!

Get 6832 flying again, make a bunch of friends millionaires, buy a Mig 29... and a bunch of other things.

If anybody doesn't know how to spend it, ask my wife.[I'm dead]
Jokes aside:
-buy and fly as many types as possible[meaning mirages]
-start own little airforce
-build 2 massive hangars[1800 square meters each], with an entertainment area, pub, bedding, braai, showers inbetween the 2
-have you mirage lovers over for a week, all expenses paid, once every four months[we 'll live at the hangars ,you bring all your models, pictures, info, airplane movies and become a lifetime member of our mirage club. you each get 1 hour flips\training in the BZ\cheetah every 4 months.
-twice a year i take you all to farnborough\oshkosh\max or whatever
-then we wait for my Tower of babel to fall down[hopefully we all speak French after that]

Now who's my best friend?
And to think there now is someone who can actually do this...I'm feeling sick

A bit of useless information.
If my calculation is correct (based on a R200 note being 152 mm in length) and one converted R1.2b into R200 notes and placed then end-to-end it would stretch over 182.000 km or wrap around the earth at the equator 4.5 times!

How much was that jet? Hmmm, about half an equator.

Bored?

If I had that kind of money, I'd put almost all of it in the bank. I'd put some towards finishing my instructor's rating, maybe buy some new camera goodies, dish some out to a charity or something... I would only tell a few close friends and family. I'd still try to find a regular job so that I can actually experience that sort of life, but if that doesn't work I'd probably buy a Dromader, an RV-8, some other toys, and have fun. Maybe I'd also get my chopper license.

Thinking about what to do with that sort of money is scary.

I think that my calculation is hopelessly out.
Would "only" stretch 918 km. Still a *%&$# lot of money.

If i won that sort of money i would spend some of it on a air transport licence and seek work as an airline pilot and then i could experience what it feels like to fly a large aircraft as did the guys in bomber command.

I'd restore Harrowbeer to it's former glory, with a fully operational squadron or two. I'd also restore the old steam railway line that went past it.

Then I'd move to SA and live rather comfortably, buy myself a tank and a small yacht, and a large brigantine. And should the money ever run dry (yeah right), I'd go and fight piracy off the somali coast xD

I'd take over the country. I don't know how, but I would.
