Me and my wife attended our first air show at Waterkloof Air force Base on Saturday the 1st of October 2011.
I am an Amateur photographer studying photography through Intec college and soem of the captures that i have captured of the air show can be seen on my blog:

I think you'll find that one of the most difficult aspects of aviation photography is anticipating where your subject is going to be. At one stage I was proud of myself if I managed to get half the aircraft in the frame (it was normally the rear half) :lol:

As you get used to the speed of the helicopters and prop planes, your panning technique will improve (requires lots of practice :wink: ). You will then be able to reduce your shutter speed to obtain some prop/rotor blur. :smt023

Thank you Dean and Gripen.
I will if the Lord spares me would like to attend more air shows and take many more pictures of aircraft participating in air shows. I used aperture setting on my Sony DSLR A-200 camera.I played around with the aperture between F5 and F18 and used an ISO of 400 for all the captures. Used a free program to remove noise in my captures. I am happy with the results considering it is my first attempt at taking pictures of moving aircraft.
