Having some fun, are you sure it is UK gallon (4,546 liters) and not US gallon (3,785 liters)

Refuelling ships is seldom done in gallons or litres. Normally in tons. Except for a painful period at SAS Scorpion when we had no facilities and the fuel would arrive in a civvie road tanker. The painful operation of getting 20000 litres (20 tons) aboard would take 5 or 6 hours. Normally we would use the ship's own pumps to suck in the fuel but we could not do that because they would have this little tiny petrol engine driven pump plumbed into the system so we would have to receive the fuel at the rate they could push it in. And tear ones hair out doing it! To fill up a strike craft (126 tons) using this method would have taken days!

Roll-call for the ex-Lindau's: Seen 1st April 2011.

Image
SAS Tshwane (ex-FGS Schleswig M1073)

Image
unknown ?

Image
(ex-FGS Ulm M1083)

Image
SAS Mangaung (ex-FGS Paderborn M1076)

M1221 - SAS Tshwane (ex-FGS Schleswig M1073) - entire service in reserve.
M1222 - SAS Mangaung (ex-FGS Paderborn M1076) - entire service in reserve.
M1223 - SAS Kapa (ex-FGS Duren M1079) - commissioned 5th September 2001.
M1225 - SAS Thekwini (ex-FGS Wolfsburg M1082) - commissioned 5th September 2001.
(ex-FGS Ulm M1083) - purchased for spares.
(ex-FGS Konstanz M1081) - purchased for spares. Sunk as an Exocet target during Exercise Red Lion, 1st November 2007 in which SAS Amatola & SAS Isandlwana each fired one missile.

So the Snow Petal snapped by RICHARDG & the unknown above is either SAS Kapa (ex-FGS Duren M1079) or SAS Thekwini (ex-FGS Wolfsburg M1082) :?:

Did some photo comparing from when I last identified who was who:

Image
Mothballed Fleet in 2010. Only Kapa has the square bridge windows, not Thekwini.

Image
Square bridge windows on the "unknown" vessel from the "roll-call" of the 1st April 2011. So this then is SAS Kapa (ex-FGS Duren M1079)

Which makes the Snow Petal, ex-SAS Thekwini (ex-FGS Wolfsburg M1082) :D

Cheers

Take another careful look - the name is Snow Petrel not Petal.
Petrels are a family of sea birds.

Does anyone have any photos of these 6 vessels arriving in Simon's Town on the barge? I had a number of them but despite extensive searching on a lot of disks and hard drives I could only find one. Seems the rest went awol several disk crashes back ....

Not the ones I'm looking for - two scans from newspapers and the other from Navy News IIRC.
