oooh ... a new sub-forum to play in .. thanks Dean :smt023 Now we can post some non aviation stuff :D

The mrs & myself were up at the awefull hour of 4:00am on Sunday, departed the house at 5:00am, to take up our yearly vantage point at the 12 Apostles on Table Mountain. All this to watch thousands of people peddle past really fast. I tried not to strain myself lounging in my camp chair, with a bucket of KFC chicken & a flask of coffee, whilst urging the cyclists to hang in there ... only 12km's to go !! Here are some of the piccies.

Image
First order of the day, upon our 5:30 arrival, was to setup the tripods & get some long expoure shots. The Twelve Apostles hotel is the building all lit up on the right & Lions Head on the far left.

Image
10 second exposure, The Twelve Apostles hotel. The blue line was a police vehicle with the roof-lights on.

Long exposure, which turned the waves all misty.

Image
The traffic police were also up at the crack of dawn, with a lot of road closures to enforce.

ZU-JVZ, Jabiru J400.

The leading group were past us at just past 8:00am .. the winner did the 110km in 2hr32min.

Some fun pics. I love the way you both get pics from different angles. I see there are some compensations when someone walks into your well composed photo! :smt023

Ah - I remember the days when I was young and foolish, and used to participate in public exercise. There are few things I have ever hated as much as the poephols (usually lounging in a comfortable chair with a beer and a boerie roll) who tell you "not far to go" when you know you still have to run 10km. It's not "only 10 km", it's "still 12km of hell."

Fortunately, now I'm not "young and foolish", so I don't do that sort of thing any more.

Indeed, seems like the focus does not appear to be on the intended subject, hmmm  Really like the long exposure shots. I really have to get myself a camera and get back into this hobby. I have a Bell 222 that lives 300m down the road from me at the hospital which I'd really like to get a snap of.
