G'day fellas,

Thanks for your help

One thing I have noticed is that in some pics of SAAF Mk.81/82's, the bombs have a thin red band around their nose instead of the NATO standard 'golden yellow'. Does the red still mean HE, because in the NATO system red (signal red) = incendiary

Also can anyone tell me what sort of gunsight was fitted to the Imps?,

I shall be following this build with great interest (and saving each pic)... for my own Imp Mk2 builds.

I have both the Scaleworx Resin set for the Italeri Mk1.... and then I managed to find an Esci Mk2 for a mere R200.

So I have 2 Mk2s to play with...

Gold! Those pics are a very great help. I need to change a few details but that is exactly what I needed. It looks like the Omega type II O, that will go a long way to getting the gunsight built,

Hi Pappy,

I was looking if I had any gunsight pics, and you're probably going to hate me now, but SAAF Impala Mk.II's had a different bulkhead. You're doing such a great job with the cockpit, and it be cool if you got it spot-on. SAAF Imp Mk.II's had a horizontal hydraulic jack for the canopy. It is rather different to the one in the Kit.
Heres some pics.

Well, that is a bit different isn't it?

I will have a go at re-jigging my cockpit.

Serves me right for going off half-cocked though. I was basing my cockpit details on the two seat version (and so it seems did Esci), still, it is not too late and I havn't started painting anything yet.

Hi Pappy,

The Ejection seat for the Impala MKII is the Martin Baker WY6AM seat. The biggest difference between the Imp MkI and Mk II seat is that the MKII seat has an electrical hight adjustable actuator and the MKI is manual. The MKI has the Martin Baker ASO6A fitted.

Just a note on the pics of teh Model Imp with the external stores, the External Fuel tanks could only be carried on the centre pylons stations 2 and 5.

So stores would be configerd as follows:

6 x Matra 68mm Rocket pods
6 x 120kg bombs
2 x 250kg bombs on station 3 and 4 with external Tanks
2 x 12,7mm gunpods on station 3 and 4
2 x 4.5kg smoke and flash Carrier "4 x 4.5kg Smoke and flash or skip bombs for training per carrier" on station 3 and 4
V3B station 1 and 6 if the aircraft was modified for Missiles

Thanks Bladerunner and Spice, wow, the cockpit in the Imp is very different to the RAAF Macchi's, so I will have some pretty serious re-working to do.
