Joining on a right-downwind, "German Air Force 187" just came almost directly overhead. :D

I would have preferred the usual ILS approach to get the "tail number" off the side of the fuselage. :(

Cheers

Nice catch, Kremlin =D> Lovely light. Whiplash is not out of the question in situations such as these  Just as long as you shift your centre of gravity and stick out your leg toward the back, you should not fall over.

Oooh the NOISE this morning ... :smt023

"Lima Mike Yankee 9118" got to about 6 miles on the ILS, then applied full power & banked left, leaving four black smoke streaks behind him. He re-established on the ILS a couple of minutes later .. still as NOISY as hell ..

Another unusually configured aircraft though, as everybody normally has gear down, by the time they pass my house at 4.5 miles on the ILS.

No wonder the media gets whipped up into a frenzy ....

I have a question I have been meaning to ask but never found the right venue or topic:

Will Russian an Ukrainian large aircraft makers (Illyushin and Antonov) ever get rid of the "WW2 Bomber" style "glass noses" and change over to "normal" airliner style noses?
The original purpose was a navigator's cockpit - downward facing windows so that they can read roadsigns! but surely that has been redundant for decades.
When last did western airliners routinely have a full-time navigator on board?
