Hello all,

Let's me introduce myself, I am French (nobody is perfect  ), 37 and have been collecting jet flight helmets from around the world for now 16 years - I have a nice collection but I am still after a GUENEAU SAAF used helmet - I must say the Mirage is my favourite jet and SAAF one of the airt force I appreciate most

Here is my face and some pics of my collection, do not hesitate to contact me if you want to know more about this hobby and if you have one SAAF used jet helmet from 50' to 90' available, I am your man !!!!!

Best regards

ALEX

Hi
If you happen to be in Johannesburg, make a visit to the war museum just behind the joburg zoo, their is a war shop with a Mirage helmet, Tornado helmet, Harrier helmet and a couple of Mig helmets which cost around about R2400 which is about 234 euros

The shop at the musem has a web site...

http://www.warstore.co.za

All prices are in US $

Can be abit pricey, best to shop around. There are other sites in South Africa which are cheaper.

Hello all,

Today was a good day here, after more than 2 years since I put this post and THANKS TO YOU, I finally got an original 4 squadron helmet from late 60's, maybe used in the 70's named to B.B. LEWIS, it seems to have been used on Impala, your help is welcome on any information

Hey guys. I know this thread is old, but was hoping if you could help me out. I have an SAAF Silver Falcon's flight helmet from Impala days ... and have the mask and new headphones, but I need a microphone for the helmet ... do you guys know anyone that can organize one?

Funny, I didn't think there are guys who actually collected helmets...like myself. In 1991 I saw some helmets, masks, g-suits, etc, lots of them actually, at the SAAF depot in Voortrekkerhoogte, that was due to be scrapped. Maybe that could be a starting point to find some?

What type of microphone did it have?
Any photos of the type that was used?

I'm gobsmacked at the pricing on that site... Effectively means I can get about US$3000 for all the sh*t in my ballsak!?!? Nevermind all my grandfather's gear! (he retired a Brig from the SADF in 1980).

Just completely insane! Also raises the question, where the dickens do these okes get their stock from??? There is some serious stuff on there, it would have very sentimental value if that came from my family.

Just thinking out loud..
