Pakistan Navy vessels visit Simon’s Town

The F22P Zulfiquar class guided missile frigate PNS Aslat and the recently commissioned replenishment vessel PNS Moawin arrived in Simon’s Bay this morning for a short visit. The two vessels form part of the Overseas Deployment to Africa Mission under Commodore Abdul Manhib PN. The mission includes a Pakistan Navy medical detachment of 60 members.

Previous ports of call on this mission include Casablanca in Morocco, Nouakchott in Mauritania, Takoradi in Ghana and Lagos in Nigeria. In some of these the medical detachment has set up a medical camp to provide free basic medical services for the local population. The vessels will apparently be departing on 21 December although no information on the visit has yet been made public.
