Good Mornings

I am busy with a 1/72 SAAF Impala Mk.1 with under wing gun pods, complements of Scaleworx. Anyway, certain pics show Impalas without a HUD and some with. I would think that with the under wing gun pods, you would need a HUD. What is the story there? Was it implemented later in its life. Were only certain Imps modified. Was it a quick stick-on if you needed the gun pods?

I would say it was more of a gun sight than a HUD.

The trainers certainly did not have them, so I think they were only fitted to those aircraft engaged on weapons training?

I would agree with that considering that MK2's also flew without the gunsight. I suppose it was fitted as needed.

Definitely not a HUD

The Mk 1 and Mk2 flew with a Gunsight only. Fitted on Mk 1 as required during training.

Thank you all.

Does anyone maybe have a photo of said gun sight?
