Canon's Full frame mirrorless is soon to follow...near year end they say,Nikon for me has always been customer focused and after sales is much better than Canon in SA,so good for them, unlike Canon's stupid horrible shop called Camertek..they need to up their game a bit in SA and when it comes to 4K in their camera's..yes the new Nikon mirrorless is compatible with all SLR lenses.

It will be very interesting to see how Canon responds.

Fuji and Sony were the first out setting the tone. Nikon has followed with emphasis of on commonality and integration with the existing product range. Canon has a couple strategic options at play. I would imagine the overriding consideration for both Nikon and Canon is to slowly start converting their current customers but at the same time start attracting new ones, the balance has to be very fine.

The current generation of mirrorless camera's won't directly replace DLSR's just yet, there are still a few key distinctions that will definitely point you to the mirroless or DSLR lines.

I think the future camera will be a hybrid a mirrorless mechanism in a DSLR body.

I'm still not sold on the mirror-less thing in the DSLR segment. One of the big benefits of mirrorless is that the camera body can be drastically reduced.

Now, place a big lens, say 400 or 500mm on a tiny mirrorless and see how the ergonomics work out. 8)

So the challenges with mirrorless cameras from a wildlife/action perspective are as follows:

-indeed ergonomics, weight, balance, grip, size.
-battery life is relatively low.
-low buffer.
-burst performance and auto focusing.

Having said that the mirrorless cameras ares shaping up to be the ultimate travel and general purpose cameras.

I bought a Canon EOS M3, mirrorless, with 18-55 and 55-200 lenses
Traded the 55-200 for Tamron 18-400
Quite happy with all
Then traded the 18-55 for 15-45
Camera body small and light

Good to see that things are heating up, Fujiflim will also be releasing their updated camera soon.

Unfortunately the Z6/Z7 seems to be bit of a false start for Nikon, but lets wait and see what the production cameras are like.

Canon have taken the same approach as Nikon.

Sony/Fujifilm take the lead.

Interesting debate. I'll stick to my 7D and 100-400. When resizing to 800 pixels for web use it makes no difference. :D 8)
