I was digging through my old photos and found a bunch of interesting picks to share. All are film. Photography certainly has improved since the advent of digital - better colour saturation, less grainy images etc....anyway, hope y'all enjoy :

Remember when the Concord came to visit - we flocked to see it at SAFAIR's premises. But it was dwarfed by the An-124 !!

How come every time my ship comes in, I'm at the airport?

I recall that airshow vividly, due in large part unfortunately to the sunburn haha. I do miss the SAAF B707s and the SAA B747-400s.

The Hawker Hunter in Swiss uniform was seen in the media in 2015 when it was used to test fly the "Inundu" flight test instrumentation pod made by the CSIR.
Its registration is ZU-HUN.

Some nice memories there Malcolm,we probably stood next to one another a few times and did not know.Mine where mostly shot on a Canon 500 and 50E,those days.Here are some of mine,yes those days your pictures quality was only as good as the lab you took them too,I eventually went over to slides as I found it cheaper to process and has better colour saturation and grain.Today its all about noise on digital,I have tons of negatives and slides at home from 1985 when I started taking images at airshows in SA.Always used Fuji film,slide and negatives.Herman Potgieter was my mentor in those days and wished I could take pictures like he did and got the opportunities for them

And the first time we saw a A380 at FAOR..we where all there,had to use 400ISO film that day was cold and cloudy and dark.

ZU-HUN is a T.68 (twin seat) Hunter. The Hunter in Malcom's photos is a F58 (i think). Might be ZU-AVC?

Ja ZU-HUN is a two seater. This single seater may be one of those which ended up with Thunder City.

Nice pics Adrian. Nice pic of NASA ER-2. I met an American aviation enthusiast at RIAT who had never seen a U-2 notwithstanding all the airshows he had been to. I had to let him down gently by advising that he had missed a U-2 takeoff the previous day

The B-1 display flight was delayed by an hour due to the unfortunate mishap to one of the paras who's chute didn't open fully

The Yak 3 had a rudder pedal snap off on take-off at Rand,subsequently sold and went to Europe.

As far as I know,both the Hunters belonged to Ron Wheeldon.

Fury was flown by Glen Dell and owned by John Sawyers, very light and minor movement on the controls.
