They can save a lot of money by utilizing bases that are under-utilized e.g. Ysterplaat.

They can move 2 Squadron to Ysterplaat, and 85 Combat to Langebaanweg. With the Gripen's superior radar, we can send a Gripen daily to do a scan of our seas (for vessels poaching our fishing waters). Then send out a Dak to investigate when needed.

I don't think basing a fighter squadron in a city residential area will go down well with residents. Another thing is corrosion management for fighter planes based at a coastal base like Ysterplaat will probably be quite intensive and more expensive I think.

Put the personnel at Valhalla, Snake Valley and Swartkop. Kloof is a white elephant that isn't needed anymore. Considering how little flying happens there it'll be cheaper to base stuff at FAOR and FASK.

Waterkloof is not a white elephant at all..one of the most active bases in Gauteng and SAAF,with VIP transport, and the Herc's fly regular?!Swartkops is still a active base with 109's and Oryx and the air force Museum, those personnel have more than enough work.
