We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the NSRI and we want you to be part of this celebration!

The NSRI Airborne Sea Rescue base - Station 29, is opening its doors to you, please come & visit, meet the team & see how we do what we do.

When : Saturday 26th August 2017 from 10H00 to 14H30
Where : ASR base at AFB Ysterplaat, Piet Grobler road, Ysterplaat.
S33° 54.622' E018° 29.419'

Enjoy freedom of our rescue base, our hospitality and see the aircraft we use as platforms from which to deploy advanced life support aviation medics and rescue swimmers during maritime rescue operations out at sea.

Static displays, helicopters coming in and departing during the morning.

09H00 Gates open – please register at the gate as you arrive.
Parking in main parking area on the base – NSRI banners.
10H00 Shackleton ground run, come & watch the four Rolls Royce Griffon engines run up
10H00 ASR base 29 is open to the public
13H00 words from the Station Commander
14H30 base closing

Highlights
Meet the NSRI crew
Watch the SAAF museum Shackleton ground run at 10H00
Static display of rescue equipment at our base including:
- The SAAF museum Westland WASP, the first rescue platform
- The SAAF museum Aerospatiale Alouette III – the platform we cut our teeth on
- The SAAF Denel Oryx – mainstay of terrestrial and maritime rescue platforms in SA
- The SAAF AW Super Lynx MK 64 – night capable rescue platform

Drinks and snacks will be provided

Man, that Shack looks too beautiful for words. Maybe someone can send pics to Flypast magazine in the UK. Will give some international exposure for this. I still remember a group of enthusiasts from the UK getting very excited seeing the Lightning display at AAD years back.

A short clip of yesterday's ground run with the C47-TP Turbo Dak flyover. An incredible turnout plus a flight line filled with an Oryx, Lynx and C47-TP and a nice display by 2 Air Servicing Unit in 4 Hangar made for a really successful day.
